Power of ‘P’

The most common ‘Ps’ many of us come into contact with are just like ourselves: people. And people communicate. Think of that type of power. It means person-to-person interaction on a grand, no – actually, global, scale. In turn, that means opportunities bigger than in human history for many.

You log on to the internet. You see adverts on websites. You forget most, but remember a few. You log off. In time, you log on again and see more adverts. If not the first time you see some ads, you might be inquisitive enough about them to click them the second or third time you see them. There may even be a little brand recognition going on in your mind too. Whatever the reason, somebody behind that ad has got your attention. They communicated an invitation to you successfully.

Depending on your susceptibility to adverts, a person – probably unidentifiable to you – got you to take action on a tempting advert they placed in your vision. And you acted. This may have brought another website’s hit counter up by one, earned someone a few cents, both of these, or meant a financial loss for one company in favour of their competitor. You wouldn’t necessarily even know the results of your actions, but those tracking their adverts do. It’s the power of ‘P’.

So what’s that got to do with world record-breaking, or my website for that matter? Oh, plenty.

I was recently searching for a community website to join, where I could exchange my skills for things I need. I contacted Staydu and asked about joining. Those folks at Staydu clearly understand the power of ‘P’. I’m sure of this because I was immediately asked if I could spread word about them in exchange for the kick-start I wanted on their website.

Since both Staydu and I were on the same wavelength, this was an easy choice: using my world record blog, I could write about them.

Using my website, I could get into a position where I can visit Staydu members and involve them in my antics. The formula already works for me, and I see no reason it won’t work well on Staydu. It’d then be up to readers of my blog to see what Staydu is all about, and how they can bring fulfilling experiences into their own lives by engaging with the members it has. If you’re backpacking, let me reassure you that Staydu needs to be on your radar.

At first glance, Staydu is benefitting, right? I’m blogging about them, and some of you will go to their website to check what awaits you. But I benefit too! You may visit my own website, especially when I tell you that the same principle of the power of ‘P’ has been applied to my website with great success.

Here’s how the same power of ‘P’ principle which led to my helping Staydu is working in my own favour – financially at that. My homepage sports a few text-based adverts, including one which chats about Rafa Nadal. How do you think these ads ended up here? Once again, it was the power of ‘P’.

Somebody somewhere saw my website; they may have searched for it or for a term related to a world record I’ve attempted. One such person knew how much power is in the concept of communication, and approached me. Also understanding the influence of peoples’ word, I began negotiating. Suddenly, some person I’ve never met is advertising on my website to others that neither they, nor I, have ever met nor will ever meet.

This, friends, is global exposure in the context of the power of ‘P’. And as I stated above, this literally bursts into potential opportunity spanning so much more than a regular local campaign. It reaches worldwide, just as world record exposure often does.

Can I prove that? Sure, on an average day, my website will receive visitors from Britain, Russia, France, India, China, Australia, Brazil, Pakistan and Nepal to name a few nations. Show me – at any time throughout pre-internet history, when a single advert placed on a website such as mine has attracted attention from such geographically dispersed localities all within a day.

Again, this is the power of ‘P’, and the huge reach it commands is benefitting both Staydu and me right now.

Jump in, check my website for ideas, and consider where you’ll invest your next online advertising dollar. Remember: it’s all about the power of ‘P’!
