100th World Record Attempt – the guide

Hendriek, my host in Pontianak, had been a fantastic personal guide. He rode me to the equator monument, which, he said, had then been moved about 60 metres when it was realized the original was in the wrong place!

Motorcycle Guided Tour of PontianakOn his motorcycle, he took me past an endless stream of memorials and provided informative commentary about them all. And he kept teaching me about all sorts of buildings as we whizzed all over the city on his 2-wheeled machine which never seemed not to get its way in the traffic.

It is hosts and guides like this which are helping to make this 100th world record attempt a truly memorable journey around Borneo and taking my mind off the ever present device encircling my nether regions.

Hendriek was also determined to buy me a bus ticket to the next town, Singkawang. Here my relationship with the Indonesian Police would be established, grow, and lead me on a protected journey out of the country. I have plenty of good to say about the Indonesian Police of Kalimantan
